In paper mill industries the primary function of corn starch or maize starch is increase dry strength and surface improvement of paper. As a wet end additives maize starch increase paper strength, increase paper stiffness and rattle of the paper.
Squirted starched pulp - fragile and delicate in form
My observations with adding cornstarch to the pulp is that it did improve the binding of the pulp but once dry it needed to very gentle handling in order to lift the paper, so as not tear it.

Next, I added a gel medium to the pulp to see if that helped further bind the pulp. I'd hoped it would produce a thick mass of coagulated liquid pulp and was partially successful.This time I was able to squeeze the pulp out of the nozzle though it squirted out unevenly in an eruption of spurts.
Once thoroughly dry the lettering peeled off relatively easily.
Whereas the topside was textural, the underside was smooth simulating the smooth surface it was resting on.
