I'm back home now, having completed radiation treatment and have been reflecting on my journey so far. In all my "ups and downs" lately, I've been thinking the importance of having SOMETHING that grounds me and makes me feel okay about being me. I believe creativity does that for me. It's an extension of who I am emotionally and helps me to enjoy being alive. I was checking out my emails and came across this article from The Herald online.
Art and Mental Health

When mental health providers get together in Wairarapa, they do it with paint and glue. King Street Artworks invited all Wairarapa mental health and addiction providers to a networking workshop yesterday. Centre co-ordinater Ian Chapman said King Street Artworks wanted to give the providers the opportunity see what the centre had to offer and to "hopefully encourage them to access our services a bit more". "Anyone with issues with mental health or addictions can turn up to any mental health provider and know they will be directed to the right place for their need."

What a neat story..... I think this is a great idea and would be something I'd be interested in being involved with (if I can get myself "together" that is!) I'm still not sure what I'm doing, why I am here and all that stuff though. Oh to have a clear idea!
